Well, my brother is on his way back home now. But he did try to use my PB420E APAP all three nights he was here.
As I said earlier, his first night on it was pretty much a bust. Couldn't stay on it for long at all.
But the second night, he was on it for over 5 hours straight and the third night he was on it ALMOST 5 hours. Not too bad for a stomach sleeper, I thought.
He helped me install the Silverlining software. Thank goodness he was here, that was a bear to install. First of all, the CDroms on my computer would only partially read the installation CD. Then, we discovered that although I have what appears to be two serial ports on my computer, neither of them are active. ????? have NO idea what's up with that! So then we tried hubby's computer. His CDrom wouldn't read the CD at ALL, but his DVD would. We've never had trouble before with anything, so I think that CD was pretty shaky. And his serial ports work. Hooray!
But anyway, as you put it, Rested Gal, his AHI was quite good at a therapeutic level, so yes, we are more convinced than ever he has sleep apnea. More importantly HE is more convinced. And he did feel a little better, but it was really hard to tell that because of the altitude's effect on him (I'm at something like 7500 to 8000 feet and he's a flatlander).
But I gave him a good lecture on the long-term health effects of sleep apnea...the increased risk of stroke and heart problems....and that really got his attention. I'm pretty sure he is going to make the effort to get a full-scale sleep study accomplished in his home state.
All in all a successful weekend.

Do it yourself sleep study?
If I'd been reading and posting I'd have said the same thing. Good advice, IMNSHO.LoneRider wrote:Okay, so I am a bit late, I would probably try 6cm of pressure, and leave it at 6cm. If your brother is a bigger guy (like me), he might feel like he is not getting enough air at 4cm. Anyway, without auto you might see more events.
But since I am a day late and a dollar short, I guess I am going to have to wait for the results.
I'll have to read further and find out how it all turned out.
