How to setup my Bi-PAP for straight CPAP?

Post by tonycog » Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:25 am

Hi
My brother-in-law is visiting me this weekend and he did not bring his CPAP machine. After I scolded him, I offered to let him use my back-up machine, which is a Bi-PAP AutoSV. I know how to adjust the settings. To set it up for him as a straight CPAP at a pressure of 14 (his prescribed pressure), do I simply set EPAP, IPAP min & IPAP max all to 14? What about backup rate, etc.? Any other settings on there I need to know about to set this up for his use?

Thanks,
Tony

I run mine on straight CPAP. EPAP and IPAP the same. I don't think you can set the IPAP max any less that a 10 pt spread, but I could be remembering wrong. I would leave the backup on auto, he shouldn't need it anyway. That, and the humidifier, should be it.
