Problem with SD card after downloading data in ResScan

Post by robysue » Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:37 pm

Ok folks,

The first two times I downloaded my detailed data from the S9's SD card into ResScan 3.11, the card worked just fine when I stuck it back into the S9. Got the "Reading Card" message and everything.

The last two times I downloaded my detailed data into ResScan, when I put the card back into the S9, I got an "Invalid Card" message asking whether I wanted to "Erase" all the data. After the first time this happened, I spent much time and worry about this issue.

The problem started when I was downloading data about 3 days ago. After getting the "Invalid Card" message on the S9, I put the card back into the PC's card reader. Both the PC and ResScan were able to read the card and the data just fine. I copied all the detailed data to a second directory on the XP (so that I have a copy of the data outside of the directory where ResScan stores it as well as the ResScan copy of the data. Let the S9 erase the card, and the S9 is happy with it, but the only data that got written to the card is the summary data from the time I first got the S9 instead of Copy the data back onto the card directly from WIndows XP, and ResScan can download it again just fine. Put the card back into the S9 and get the same dang "Invalid Card" error. Finally I simply decided that since I had all the downloaded data on the PC (and a second copy of that data in a different place on the XP) that I might as well let the S9 wipe the data so that I could record new detailed data on the card that night.

Today I decided to download the new data that had been recorded since the first incident. Pulled the card out of the S9 and put it into the PC's card reader. ResScan 3.11 had no trouble reading the card and downloading the new detailed data that had been recorded since the last download. But once again, when I put the card back into the S9, the "Invalid Card" message popped up. This time, I just threw in the towel and let the S9 erase the data since I know I've got the data on the computer and in my ResScan file(s).

Note: The card has always been properly removed from the XP by first going to "Safely Remove Hardware" and stopping the device before removal. So that's NOT my problem.

Anybody else have this kind of problem?

Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks in advance for any help anybody can provide!

Get a new SD card. They're readily available, and I've seen 2GB cards for as little as $10.

And 10 is a ... (you know the rest )

The only time I've had any problem reinserting the SD card in my S9 is when the little lock-unlock tab on the side is moved a little, while either inserting it in or removing it from the card reader attached to my computer. I have been able to fix the problem by moving the tab all the way into the unlocked position, then putting it back in the S9. That's the only thing I can suggest checking.
