new machine

What are good suggestions about replacing my old machine. I currently use a Resperonics Remstar Auto. Pressure 10.5 to 13. I have over 17,000 hours on it and do not know how much longer it will last. I would like something a little smaller and quieter.

Are you buying it out of pocket or using insurance? If money is an issue, or even if it isn't, look at the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust with Smartflex. It is the best selling auto machine on cpap.com. I love mine! The software is easy to use and can be purchased on cpap.com, too. I love mine.....and it was very reasonably priced.

Take a look at the S9 elite. It is what I use and very quiet. Data easily assessable and easy to understand

I love my S9 Elite. The humidifier is nice, too, but I am finding that I do not need it when it is raining.

if you like the respironics they have an auto a flex, very nice but not good for shallow breathers

The new Philips Resironics Remstar System One Auto with A-Flex machines are very nice. I think they are smaller, and from what I hear they are definitely quieter. They have newer algorithms for dealing with hypopneas and centrals.

BUT, if I had the choice right now, I think I would buy a Resmed S9 Auto, simply because they have a color LED screen with a lot of data available on the screen (with Respironics, all you see on screen is 7 and 30 day average AHI and large leak), they too are very quiet, small foot print, and the availablity of a climate line hose.

I agree with Jimbo. The S9 Elite (or, if it meets your needs, the Autoset) is my new machine, and I love it. The colorful screen, the abundance of data, even the SD data card that I can take out of the machine amd read in my computer are all good things, to me.

Thanks everyone for the info...I have been leaning toward the S9 but do want the auto. I am so used to having
my pressure a little lower when I can.

I have monitored my treatment so thoroughly for the past 6 years that I need a data capable machine for sure.

This will be the first time I have not had to purchase my equipment myself as I am now on medicare.

I do not know how I would have afforded my treatment without CPAP.com and this forum.

Remember, you are probably going to have to battle with the DME to get an S9 auto because that machine eats their profit margin.

Get your doctor to specify what you want in the prescription and call around to find a DME that will work with you to get what you want.

My husband just picked up his S9 Autoset about an hour ago.
They set it on CPAP mode with no EPR.
The sleep doc wants him to make an appointment before he'll authorize changes--
and my sweetie can't STAND THE STRONG AIR BLAST WHEN HE'S TRYING TO EXHALE.
This 'doctor', IMHOP is just a shill for the DME.
I printed out the clinical manual, and I believe hubby is studying as I write this. . .
We will convey our experience to our PCP, and perhaps get a referral to a respiratory specialist (if needed)
--(not one connected to the DME/lab). Conflict of interest will not be tolerated.
In the meanwhile, my sweetie will be breathing easily-and continuously-throughout the night.
