nose irritation

Hello all. I am new to the board as I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. I was prescribed a cpap machine with a nose mask. While I believe the machine has helped me rest, the mask has irritated the bridge of my nose to the point that I can hardly stand the pain of putting on the mask anymore. I have tried loosening the straps, but this causes the air to leak and blow into my eyes. Any suggestions for solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

What mask do you have? The first masks people are given are often very poor. Many of us on the forum have swiched to nasal pillow interfaces because they offer much greater comfort.

I am not sure of the name of my mask, but it is hard plastic with blue pads. To keep it from leaking, I have to really tighten the top straps which has really been painful for my nose right between my eyes.

Is it similar to this one?

If so, this is a lower end mask. I would suggest getting one of the nasal pillow interfaces or if you want a standard nasal interface take a look at the ResMed mirage Activa. It is very soft on your face. You can compare most all masks available at cpap.com. If you are unable to get a different mask through your supplier, you can always buy one yourself there...no prescription required.
