HELP!! System One Remstar Pro C-Flex+ (450P)

Post by NightVision » Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:10 pm

Hi, All . . .

Just got a new machine (not through insurance . . . I am on my own).

I have been a CPAP user since 1990. Been through some machines. Always changed my own pressure. I am an American and know my rights. If I can jump out of a perfectly good airplane, by choice, I can change my CPAP pressure, by choice.

My new machine is the System One Remstar Pro (450P) C-Flex + (Not the older Remstar Pro with 3 buttons up top, but the new one with just a push-dial and one other button on top. I do not know the secret code (button sequence to push) to change my pressure from 18 cfm back down to 14 cfm (my perscription).

How did I get in this mess? The doctor wrote the perscription for a new CPAP, but my insurance would not cover it. And last Tuesday night my old machine died. Oh, well . . .

In any case, I am experienced at this. I own the machine (not aninsurance company). I know my rights. And I am free to change the pressure if I want to . . . and . . . know how to! That is the problem . . . I do not know the secret code!

Any help out there? Anybody know the secret handshake? (Or do I need to secretly download the software from somehwere and change the sd card in this thing?)

I really want to sleep tonight without blowing my face off! I could really use the help.

I have the manual for the PR1 Auto. The secret handshake is the same except for the auto settings. Be glad to send it to you in PDF format if you can PM me an e-mail address. To read it needs Encore Viewer2 but it won't change the settings. EV2 is available from cpap.com for $99.

I don't have your machine and don't know the secret handshake.

BUT, I do know if you search this site you will find whatever it is that you need or want.

Welcome to the party.

Thanks for the advice . . . but, uh, being familiar with forums . . . I did search first . . . for two hours . . . knew the answer was buried somewhere . . . did not post a new thread until I just could not find it . . . also I know that the purpose of posting is after ou have searched and did not find your answer . . . in a community forum . . . you can post a thread and ask . . . but, I also knew . . . thr first post would be from someone lurking around just to post a non-answer and a thumping for not using search first . . . thumping received . . . sorry to disappoint . . . but I did search first. Thanks for the tip, anyway. Nice welcome from you.

Hey, Den . . .

Thanks . . . you got me started in the right direction with the link in your private post to me. Gonna read through the stuff and hopefully get my pressure sorted out so I can finally sleep tonight! (9:33 PM EST here now.) Just the kind of pointer I was looking for, Den!

And, thanks for your genuine "welcome to the forum" in your private email to me. Much appreciated!

Den, you are just the kind of caring, helpful person who a person like me . . . new to the forum . . . needs first contact with! Even though I have had sleep apnea since aaround 1990 and been on CPAPs every day since then, this the first sleep apnea forum I have ever been on. I am on forums for years now for Harleys and antique cars, but I never ever received faster help and a warmer welcome!

I really do appreciate Den. With people like you on, I think this will prove to be a forum community where I maybe can contribute in some small way. Looking to me a meaningful member!

I will try to remember to treat others first time posters as kindly as you have treated me!

Thanks again!

Thanks, Den . . . it is working now and down to 14 cfm . . . the perfect pressure! Also, Jerry helped too!

Thanks, guys . . . I genuinely, sounds childish, am now heading to bed with the machine and can't wait to sleep!

I will get on here and fellowship some tomorrow . . . and look for the first opportunity to help soomeone else in return.

BTW, are their Legend points I can give you to strengthen your rep on this forum? Others have done it for me in other forums. I would love to pass the favor, especially since you helped me so fast in one simple response!

In any case, I so greatly appreciate it . . . now . . . where's my mask!

Wow! Thanks for all of the help!

Dialed in the magic code and put the pressure where it should be at 14 cfm . . . because of you all's help . . . I slept like a baby . . . first time in a week! And better than in a half a year or so!

My old machine was 5 years old (an old Remstar Plus) . . . and was bad (leaking I am sure) much longer than I ever anticipated! Motor finally went out . . . cause my move to a new one.

And, I love the System One Remstar Pro with C-Flex . . . my first machine with c-flex . . . I like it! Much easier to breath out against the reduced pressure!

Now, I will be on the lookout for a relative that gets a new Remstar Auto and decides not to use it!

In all, I love a world as a free American I can set my own pressure without the interference of the government . . . if I can free climb rock towers, surely I can risk setting my own known pressure! I love America (and am learning to like cpaptalk.com).

I don't know, if I were you I'd be on the look out for the CPAP police. They could be headed your way.

Hi All,

Same boat as to OP.

I am diagnosed as having positional (on back) apnea and not getting ANY N3 (restful) sleep at all (regardless of position). I need very little pressure.

During the second study, on the machine I was getting what I needed. That study produced 5-7 cm H2O, however, I think they had it at its lowest pressure (4) before raising it during the night until the pressure woke me up.

When I received the machine, the clinician set it for 7 cm H2O based on prescription with a ramp down to 4 cm H2O. That doesn't make sense to me for the prescription.

It takes me a while to fall asleep, an hour or more. Seven is too high to fall asleep and the ramp down feature doesn't really help since it ramps back up after 30min. If I move to reset it, that movement wakes me.

I can only stand the mask for an hour before I become irritated and have to take it off because the ramped pressure wakes me, or the movement to re-set the ramp down wakes me.

I can not relax at seven for pressure and have to work to breathe. Thus, why it woke me during the study.

I am computer savvy and would appreciate any help to set the pressures I need.

Thanks in advance.
