fitlife mask

Post by sister » Thu Sep 30, 2010 5:54 pm

I have a question, must you use only resmed masks with a resmed machine? I was just wondering about the fitlife, and what would you set your mask setting on? Full?
Thanks!!

When I was looking for a machine I saw that the ResMed had something that adjusted the pressure when used with their own masks. Nice, but I think it is mostly a marketing thing. Pretty clever, actually. It makes you want to buy their masks to avoid confusion. But when you think about it, all machines measure the back-pressure and should adjust to any mask. My IntelliPAP does have an adjustment for a 10 ft hose though, and that's not a marketing thing

hi there,
No you can use any mask, and if you scroll thru the menu on masks, I think it has hybrid, pillows, and full..
I had that fitlife mask for awhile but it leaked at the temples like crazy.... I do believe I set the machine on full for that puppy..

I will have to say, that a higher pressure was not so noticable in that contraption.. the design is odd though, its almost triangular instead
of oval.. it should be oval and they would have had a winner.

The ResMed mask setting is used to adjust the leak number for the mask vent rate. It's not used to adjust your therapy.

ResMed say that you should set the mask setting to "Standard" (for the S8 series) for non-ResMed masks. This setting subtracts a constant 24 liters/minute when calculating the displayed leak. You could also compare the leak vs. pressure graph for the FitLife to the graph for the different ResMed masks. If you find a ResMed mask graph that's close, I don't think you'd go too far wrong using the setting for that mask.
