1 year OTH (on the hose)

Post by snnnark » Thu Sep 30, 2010 1:26 pm

Today is my 1 year anniversary It has not been an easy year and for a few weeks I've had bad sleep and a return to hyper-irritability. Not sure what the problem is but it's either
a) Uncomfortable bed
b) Hose management
c) altitude (unlikely)
d) sleep hygiene (most likely!)
e) lack of exercise
but probably a combination of all of the above.

I got a job at a ski resort for 3 months and although it was cold (no heating cos they didn't pay the electric bill!! ) and I didn't have heated humidity (had to run my intellipap on battery back up) I had some of the best sleep ever! One night was .5 ahi! Most nights around 2 ahi. I think it was because I was active all day and went to sleep at reasonable hours. I also made a hose management system out of electrical conduit with a spring system that balanced my mask so leaks were at a minimum.

Back at home I'm in a lumpy bed, watching TV till god forsaken hours and not being very active.... and not sleeping well! Go figure!

Anyhoo, just wanted to thank the forum again for being the best source of support and encouragement for cpapers and to wish all newbies (and oldies!) well for the future.

Deon

Congratulations on your one-year anniversary! I'm right behind you (three more weeks)!

I also go through periods when I don't sleep so well. I try not to fret about it, and eventually things work out. During the more difficult times, I remind myself that the health benefits of using CPAP make it all worthwhile. Being able to think more clearly is such a joy! It certainly is a hassle sometimes, but I''m hooked.

Wishing you a wonderful second year ahead!

You should be proud of your perseverance, its not the easiest of things to do, a lot of variables get in your way, keep at it, and when difficult nights come along and they will, go over your basics list and find your solution. Good sleep to Ya.
