? for those that have changed their CPAP pressure

Post by jayjp04 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 3:56 pm

I am currently seeking my optimal CPAP pressure. When you change your pressure settings, how long does it take your body to get used to it and achieve your optimal AHI at that pressure level?

I started at 6 cm H20, and was having AHI of 7-10. After bumping it to 7.2, which I kept it at for a couple months, AHI was around 3.5, which I was pretty pumped about! I increased it 3 days ago to 7.6, and the 3 days have been 0.00 leak and 0.02L/M leak, but my AHI was 4.5 and 4.8, 4.9. Just curious how many days I should keep this pressure before moving it back down to see if AHI goes down....

THANKS!

My brain doesn't like change, so I make a change and wait 3-4 wks to acclimate the change and see if it improved anything.

The potential problem with increasing pressure is that it can induce or increase central apneas...not good. Check your sleep study results to see if centrals emerged as they raised the pressure to verify you aren't making your apnea worse by increasing pressure.
