Do you need a 3-prong outlet to use a CPAP machine?

Thanks everybody. My building is old but and the wiring is old but not necessarily unsafe solely due to its age. I will ask the DME to hopefully supply me with a unit that doesn't need 3-prong outlets, or, if not, I'll ask if I can plug the CPAP into a surge protector. Apparently there can be more of a concern if you plug any appliance that involves water (such as a CPAP with humidifier) into a non-grounded outlet but it sounds like I'll be okay.

As best I recall, every cpap/autopap/bilevel machine I have (up through Respironics M series and ResMed S8, as well as a three other brands) has just a two prong plug. I don't recall any that I've used having a 3 prong plug.

My leaf blower has a 3-prong plug.

Maybe that's what the brochure writers were thinking.

jdm, YOU are the shortest path to ground for your leaf blower.
