Home vist and adjusting to therapy.

Post by trytryagain » Mon Sep 27, 2010 6:47 am

Home visit today to help with mask issues with DME Respiratory therapist. Then visit with sleep doctor/neurologist on Friday to discuss sleep study results. I'm have a little bit better results with the Activa LT mask with the remzzz liner. I was preferring the Quattro because it is more comfortable for me, but I get so much leaking and the remzz liner for that mask doesn't work as well. I wish I could just find a mask that didn't require all the tweaking, strap covers, liners, hose holders! You know just put it on, press a button go to sleep and wake up refreshed without all the waking up to straighten and adjust this and that. What should I discuss with the therapist I haven't had a home visit before and I don't know what to expect?

I think the Activa LT should give you good service out of the package and not leak if it is fitted properly. The Activa series is one of the best in my opinion for floating lightly on the face and not leaking. The air pressure is suppose to fill out the billows of the mask and push it against your face with the air. The straps should be adjusted very very loose. It should feel almost like it can fall off when you first put it on.
I hope you can get a mask that will make your therapy bliss. When you find that golden mask, you will be ready to sleep like you haven't in years.

I am slightly confused about switching from the full face Quattro to the nasal mask Activa. I would not use a full face mask unless I was a mouth breather or had a bad cold and could not breathe out of my nose. Is there a reason you tried both of these?

There are nasal pillow types that are the least obstrustive as far as things on your face and some people prefer those. They may require getting used to with your nares, but once you adjust to them they do provide some people with just what they need to sleep well. I wish you the very best with your DME therapist visit today and I hope this helps some.

They gave me both to take home at the sleep study. I tried out the activa lt first and wasn't happy with it . For the next 2 weeks I've use the quattro and foung it more comfortable, except for the leaks. I went back to the activa 2 nights ago with more success (with a liner). I do have a problem opening my mouth, maybe thats why. I am waiting for delivery of the mask strap and liner from padacheek. I'll try anything to help them work for me.
