Droooool
Droooool
Okay, I've seen the farting thread, so here goes: I've been far away from home for the past two weeks and had to resort to taping my mouth shut to stop sounding like a Hoover in blow mode. I have sensitivities to adhesive on most tape, so I've been using paper tape for sensitive skin. The problem seems to be that I drool and the tape comes undone in the corners of my mouth and pffffffffft. What's next? Duct tape? I mean, honestly, this is getting pretty ridiculous. Have they thought about the dive bell cpap mask? Or the full body cpap mask? I'm being sarcastic here, but geeze, this IS starting to feel like one thing after another!
Re: Droooool
I can't really offer you any help on this, but I can support you by telling you that I am a drooler as well. I couldn't tolerate the nasal masks and went to a full face mask after 3 days and never looked back. While I don't drool every night, there ARE a few nights here and there where I wake up and have to get up and clean out the inside of the mask from it. Kind of gross.skylark40 wrote:Okay, I've seen the farting thread, so here goes: I've been far away from home for the past two weeks and had to resort to taping my mouth shut to stop sounding like a Hoover in blow mode. My family has told me that when I fall asleep in my recliner, my head always tilts to the side and my mouth falls open. I've been known to fall asleep like that on our deck and my family teases me saying I'd better be careful or I'll get bees in my mouth!! But I drool on those occasions sometimes too!
There are several of us around here that have a drooling problem -- so you're not alone.

Re: Droooool
Perhaps you should switch to a full face mask and use remzzz (I make my own) or the liner that Karen makes on Padacheek. I was using a nasal pillow mask too and was taping with micropore tape since I'm allergic too, about 3 weeks into taping I started to get a tape burn with micropore. I switched back to my quattro and the mask liners and am doing fine. The mask liners kinda sop up the drool and keep your mask and face dry.

Re: Droooool
Skylark, one of the first nights I tried taping, my drool loosened up one of the ends. My husband found great delight watching the tape "flap in the breeze" the next morning. He also took great delight in describing it to me and our daughters...
I tried about 4 different kinds of tape, including blue painter's tape, used horizontally. It was just too creepy for me.
Do a search on here for "poligrip strips." I tear one in half, wet each piece and put one on either side of my lower lip. Press your lips together like you're blotting lipstick, and your lips will stick together. This leaves a small hole in the middle (for me, anyway). Then I take a 4" to 5" piece of 1" micropore tape and put it vertically from between my upper lip and nose down over my lips and under my chin.
The first time I heard of it, I thought it was just plain crazy, but it's also one of the best for me. I thought I was going to need to shop for a full face mask, but it works well with my Swift FX pillows. The first week or so, I would notice the strips would be sort of "melted" by morning, and the tape wasn't always secured. Now, the strips are still intact, and so is the tape. I don't even know it's there anymore.

Re: Droooool
I won't even mention what I tried last night to keep my mouth shut...! I am reaching the point of trying another mask, probably a hybrid, because I really like the feel of the nasal pillows and no pressure points on the bridge of my nose or sinus area. It's been suggested you should have at least one other style to swap back and forth from. I'm hoping I don't end up with a drawer full!Tired Linda wrote:Skylark, one of the first nights I tried taping, my drool loosened up one of the ends.
