I have been using my new c-pap for a week now and I have developed a bad ear ache in my left ear. What causes this ?

Don't assume it's CPAP related. Get it checked out. There shouldn't be enough CPAP pressure to affect your ear.
What!!? Wylie was trying to eat me.

First, follow Silly's suggestion to have your doctor check it out--just because you are on CPAP doesn't mean you can't develop other things. But if nothing is found, try these suggestions:

1. Try turning your humidifier up or down one notch. Too much humidity bothers my ears.
2. Make sure your sinuses are clear by a) using a saline rinse (spray or neti pot) to clear out your sinuses once or twice daily, b) talk to your doctor about either an antihistamine (e.g. Claritin or Zyrtec) and/or steroid nasal spray to keep your sinuses under control.

Those should help.
