OT: Supplements For Osteoarthritis Do Not Work Review Says
Hi All
The good news is that you can save money in the future (if you want to).
The bad news is - what do I do with all those capsules I still have?

I have often thought that sometimes vitamin supplement manufacturers just take something that the body naturally uses, put it together in a nice package, and then say it may help a certain condition.
I am sure many vitamins and mineral supplements are helpful, but equally sure that some are just making money for the manufacturers.

I eat a balanced diet, and still take supplements by the hands full. A Cheeseburger in the left hand and Fries in the right hand, is a balanced diet, right! Jim

I haven't mutated to that level, yet. Still need to grow that third hand. I'll probably grow it soon, I take 20 pills in the A.M., and 20 in the P.M. and 8 more at Bedtime, I can almost feel it growing. In the end - it's all about what works for you. A supplement may only work for some people, only at some level, after some time. Studies can't factor in all those things. Maybe they only work if there are adequate levels of something else. I've seen G&C work wonders in two dogs who don't know anything about the plecebo effect.

Yes that is the problem with the western approach - they focus on the relief of symptom rather then the individual who has it. If it helps YOU it doesn't matter if the effect is placebo or "real". A placebo effect is very real for the person having it - in fact most non chemical pain relief methods are trying to reproduce that very thing.Sillyme wrote:In the end - it's all about what works for you. And I have yet to meet a person who eats " a healthy well balanced diet" - besides that only works for a healthy person anyway - once you have lived for a few years and been exposed to stress and toxic environments you are not without problems.

I found that Glucosamine and Chondroitin never worked for me; however, my dad, who is 88, started to use it when he was in his late 70's due to arthritis in his knee. He was having difficulty going up stairs or bowling (his favorite activity---and still goes twice a week and plays in a league). After only a couple of weeks on it, he was able to bound up stairs again, and he has no sign of stiffness or pain in his knees since.... So, I guess it works for some and not others. He is one of the most skeptical people I know when it comes to taking supplements, and I remember being astounded that he actually tried it. He takes it religiously every day.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I have arthritis in my right thumb which started causing problems about two years ago. It at times made it impossible to use my right hand, would wake me up at night, and I was taking anti inflammatories to get relief. During my visit to a new to me DR I mentioned that my thumb was very painful. She said for me to try OsteoBiFlex and to see if it would provide relief. I have to say that within two weeks I noticed that the thumb are better, and now after a full month my thumb is back to full no pain use with no antiflammatories being used. Regards
