Provigil?

Post by trytryagain » Mon Sep 13, 2010 4:51 pm

Shortly before my sleep study I was prescribed Provigil by my neurologist, the Dr. that suggested my sleep study. I was so sleepy during the day that I thought I may fall asleep driving. It has worked wonders for the daytime sleepiness. I have been using the cpap now for 10 days. I will see the Dr. on October 1st. Does anyone else take this? Do you think I should stop and see if the therapy is replacing the need for medication?

Provigil and nuvigil are very similar. Below is a link to a good discussion of these drugs.
I would discontinue and show the linked articles (from the thread below) to my doctor.
But make your own decision:

I take Provigil because I have other sleep disorders that still afect my sleep, even though my cpap treatment is going well. Yes, you may be able to go off the medication, but you might want to give yourself a bit more time since recovery often takes a while. Ask your doc if there are any considerations in stopping this med, like if you should wean or just quit.
