Bedwetting, Teeth Grinding and Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Post by mars » Sat Sep 11, 2010 11:17 am

Hi All

Two recent events -

1. Talking to a friend from overseas. I figured he had OSA, but he wasn't sure. As we were talking he was googling, and he saw a reference to bed-wetting. I heard a yell on the phone and Bingo ! His reservations were gone.

2. Because I had not heard of this before I got on-line to check this out. What I discovered whilst doing this was a reference to teeth grinding in relation to OSA. This gave me a hell of a shock, because my first wife used to complain about me waking her up by grinding my teeth nearly 40 years ago. And in all my reading of OSA I had not come across this.

So it is likely I have had untreated sleep apnea for at least 37 years, and probably longer. Given the current condition of my body, and the current condition of my brain, it all now makes sense. Stopping smoking and drinking and using drugs and living a pure spiritual life just doesn't cut it. One has to sleep with a continuous oxygen supply as well.

As these 2 symptoms are not often mentioned, I have posted below some useful links -

Here is an old but excellent thread -

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17233&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... ed+wetting

and from Google -

and on teeth grinding and sleep apnea -

cheers

Thanks for the post Mars. Teeth grinding is another indicator that suggests that I have had this condition for longer than I initially thought.

He must be a good friend if he's willing to admit to bed wetting to you.

Yep, I'm a teeth grinder and have been for many years.
I wear a night guard made by my dentist who, BTW never connected the grinding to apnea. But then again neither did my Dr.

I can make all the connections now.
I haven't starting wetting though. I hope I can skip that one!
