normal leak rate for s9 elite?

Post by sleepymama » Fri Sep 03, 2010 8:08 pm

ok not sure if it's based on the mask or machine but wondering how to figure out how bad the leaks are when i'm using my machine. i get the median/95th percentile/maximum numbers but they all seem so darn high. i know there is some equation you can do once you know the normal leak rate. can anyone let me know?

here is last night's data numbers
3.6/21.6/34.8

thanks

It's more the mask that controls the leak numbers. Resmed has this thing though that if you set your mask up on your machine it'll come up with a different set of numbers then other machines (putting it simply).

So the question here what is your mask set to on your machine?

it's set to pillows cause that's what i'm using.
i did some research online and found the rate should be around 30L/min so now do i subtract the readings i'm getting from this number or the other way around?

That I can't answer as it isn't how my machine works.

I have seen were Resmed users were getting a zero leak rate.

Your ResMed machine (set properly, which it is) subtracts the mask vent rate before it displays the leak number. So the leak it is displaying represents leaks that can be corrected. ResMed says that leaks should not exceed 24 l/m = 0.4 l/s, but lower is always better. Higher leak numbers can cause the machine to not recognize events.

ok so with the 95th percentile number being 21.6 and the maximum being 34.8 those are pretty high? the median is only 3.6 so that would be awesome if i could figure out when i get that number. i know it's that stupid chinstrap not working. i put it on normally and then had to tighten it cause my mouth would slightly open while laying in supine position.

edited to add that i guess it's just my maximum one i need to worry about.
