... and if so did MyEncore continue to work? I have downloaded 1.5, but am a bit hesitant to install it tonight, because if it is incompatible with MyEncore I will have trouble supporting the current version in the future. I'll bite the bullet tomorrow, but I'd appreciate it if anybody can let me know how things went with the upgrade.

I downloaded the v 1.5 and installed it. I downloaded my smart card from my Bipap Auto and it is not compatable with the current version of My Encore.

Regards,

Ted

Derek,

As far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't care if I stayed at the software levels I'm at with Encore Pro and MyEncore. The only things I get from Encore Pro is to be able to download the data and to see WHEN the events occurred. Otherwise, I put my faith in the numbers from MyEncore. As long as those things are working, I'm happy. I can't imagine that Respironics could enhance their software enough that I would really like it. I really like your MyEncore program and if you don't want to try to keep up with Respironics, it would be OK with me.

Thanks for all you've done with that program and for us!

Best wishes,

Den

I'm not surprised that Ted's new machine did not work with MyEncore.

I'm not so sure this is a small problem. There were big changes in the database structure between Versions 1.3 and 1.4, and there may be equally big changes in the new version. When I talked to the engineers at Respironics they pointedly said that MyEncore was very vulnerable to any changes they might make in the database structure.

In addition, on the Respironics download page they mention that they have improved the security of Encore Pro, which may mean that they have password protected the database. It was wide open in 1.4 ...

I think what I'm going to do is back-up my database, install 1,5, and take a look at it, then if things look real grim I'll reinstall 1.4.

Is there any way to get more information out of a BiPAP Pro2 than compliance, levels and mode?? Thanks, expensive purchase to get something I already know.

I got the Bi-pap Auto Tuesday of this week. The first night I used it as a traditional Bi-pap with my normal 12/8 settings with bi-flex. Yesterday I downloaded the Encore Pro Ver. 1.5 and installed it. Last night I used the machine in the auto mode and it was great. I loaded the 2 day info into 1.5 Encore Pro and it is somewhat different in appearance. I also tried opening My Encore and it would not open with the new 1.5 loaded. So, no doubt not compatible yet. I didn't try reading the card with the 1.4 version of Encore Pro, so not sure how that would work.

Yes there is.
With the card reader, the Pro 2 will collect the same breathing events data that the auto does.

The Pro 2 and the auto information are similiar. With Encore ver. 1.4 you can chart and graph pressure, mask leaks (average/large), hypopnea, obstructive apnea and snore index. Derek's My Encore adds many more graphs. Probably the differences with the auto with Encore 1.5 is the percentage of useage graph. It breaks down the nightly % of use at any given pressure including flow limitation, H, OA, S, minutes at pressure and % at night, non responsive apneas for both IPAP and EPAP. For instance, mine ran at 90% at 13cm H20 IPAP and 90% at 10 cm H20 EPAP. So a sleep lab would probably set a bipap for me at 13/10. My prescription from my sleep test was 12/8. I will monitor it for a while and see how it goes.
For me, I have the min epap set at 4 which starts out low. I will change that to 6 as I was at or above 6 all night and it is more comfortable than the lower 4 for me. It begins similiar to a ramp setting and goes up and titrates to what is necessary to keep the airway open and charts the different changes. Hope this helps and explains it some, IMHO.

When I first began using version 1.4 I was very disappointed in the limited abilities of the software. If Derek hadn't made his MyEncore software available I would find the effort to understand my titration efforts very frustrating. More than likely I would be trying to bang in information from version 1.4 to a spreadsheet or a program of my own.

It would interesting to hear the differences between Encore Pro 1.4 compared to 1.5. Can anyone offer any insights?

Roger, Respironics site says:

This version of Encore Pro adds support for BiPAP Auto, as well as new features such as facility management, enhanced patient setup, enhanced security, and secondary insurance providers.

That's for the 1.5 version compared to the 1.4 It has features for the bipap auto.

The only difference I know of is that the 1.5 can handle the Bipap Auto settings and downloads. I am not saying that is the only difference, but it is the main one.

So it sounds like they haven't done much to the reporting side of the software in version 1.5.

If added data input is all that is different between the two versions, then we are better off staying with version 1.4 because it easily mates with MyEncore from Derek. Especially since version 1.5 locks MyEncore out.

I wonder if the information on the card can be read directly so we could harvest the data as daily records we manipulate. Does anyone know if the card information interface is available, or are we better off trying to harvest the data from the MSSQL. Server?

Thanks for the feedback.
