just wondering how long it takes to read a test. i had my sleep study 1 month ago, 1 hr into the test the doc put me on the cpap machine resmed i think, said he was afraid i wouldnt make it through the night without it. he said i'm the worst case he's seen in a long time and it scared him. nice!
well i went to my doctor on the 28th and was told he has'nt got the test results back yet from the sleep center. the way i understand it is the sleep center does the test then they send the info to a specialist who reads the test and sends results to the doc. any idea how long this takes?
i think i have more wrong than osa, severe hedaches, severe memory loss, fall asleep at any moment-day or night, afraid to go to sleep, when i do i wake up gagging, cant breath and more. it seems like everyone is taking their good old time with this and i'm ready to get my gun and go to sleep for good to end the pain. sorry to go on so long just venting. is a month too long to wait?

A month is a long time to wait for your sleep study results.
It's not unheard of, but it is a long time. If I were you, I'd call the sleep lab yourself. Can't hurt. Light a fire under that doctor too.
I've been to a sleep lab and was given the tour and an explanation of what happens. The overnight sleep lab tech conducts the test and usually writes notes in a file accompanying the polysonomagraphy results (I'm pretty sure I have that spelled wrong lol). The notes are usually just observations of how the test went. At this lab, the next day another tech would take those results, interpret the graphs and write up a report. It may go through some other review process, I am not sure. But the report should be available to your doctor within two weeks, usually a lot sooner. I figure you deserve at least an explanation of why it's taking so long, IMHO. Hope all goes well.

For the two studies I've had, I was told that it could take 4 weeks before I'd get the results mailed to me.
Both times, my doctor received the results only a few days after the test (2 days after the first study, and 4 days after the second one). I was also able to go to my health center to the medical records department and get printouts of the results only a day after the doctor got them. Admittedly, the health care system I'm using (Univ of Michigan) seems to be pretty advanced in terms of having all these results online...
My studies were in late September - I still haven't recieved my "mailed" copies.
So in other words, it might be worth pestering someone!

I went in on a Wednesday and had my machine the next Monday. I called the lab and told them I had an appointment with the doc the following Monday and then made the appointment with the DME for the same Monday. That way I had everyone lined up and used the scheduled appointments as my leverage. Worked well for me.

I had my sleep study on a Tuesday and the following week I had my results, but they never put the mask on me. I had to have the titration study at home.
It was the DME that caused me to go for two months without my CPAP.
