Women: Mirage Swift LT vs. Mirage Swift LT "for her"

Post by CAsleep » Tue Aug 24, 2010 2:40 am

My DME supplier gave me just the Mirage Swift LT, and I have the small nasal pillows.

I was wondering if there are any advantages to the Mirage Swift LT "for her." The manufacturer descriptions for this mask seemed kind of vague. It said something like, "accomadates a pony tail." I almost found that insulting to my intelligence. That's the best perk you could share with me? Hairstyle-while-sleeping is not something I worry about. I am moreso wondering what makes the "for her" version different in terms of it's functionality.....is something shaped better for the female face?

Can any women here say how the "for her" is better or different than the regular Swift LT?

Right now, I am getting pain in that part of the nose that divides the nostrils, close to the tip of the nose.....but I'm not sure having the "for her" would solve that....I'm thinking I just need to loosen the mask. But still, when I buy a new mask, wondering what makes the "for her" better. Thanks.

I have used both and there is no difference as far as the mask goes or the fit.

The Swift LT comes with navy blue headgear and the Swift LT for Her comes with light blue headgear. The Swift LT comes with small, medium and large pillows. The Swift LT for Her comes with xsmall, small and medium pillows. The Swift LT for Her comes with little light blue strap pads. Those are the differences.

Thank you for responding.

No difference in mask or fit....That's what I was suspecting based on the description, but I was hoping I was wrong, because I'd like something tailored to a smaller face overall.

One more question: The face straps on the "for her".....are they made to accomodate a smaller face? Because in the regular one, the navy blue part that is supposed to hit you at the temple of the face (it goes kinda diagonally) is almost cutting into my ear, (narrow face) which is slightly annoying.

On a slightly off topic note, I HATE it when manufacturers simply make something pink or pretty, than label it "for her." I find it very demeaning, if they don't change any kind of functionality. And if the functionality is the same, why do you single women out, based on a perceived notion that all we care about is how things look? They do it to men too though, like Axe body wash is packaged in black and there is less wording....because men are apparently too masculine to be caught with Dial?

Someone posting here placed one over the other and they are EXACTLY the same except for color.

I second that, but in this case, the color is light blue, not pink I guess the fact that the LT for her comes with the XS pillow and not the large is the only functional change.

As far as your nose, try loosening the headgear just a tich. This mask can take a pretty loose fit and still remain sealed. The best way to adjust it is to hold the pillows up to your nose, turn on the machine, pull the headgear over your head and adjust it just until there is no leakage. The pillows should be filled with air for the adjustment. You can also adjust the angle of the pillows.

If it's STILL bothering you, try the FX. The FX fits even more loosely and it's very soft, so that it won't cause pressure there. It's the best.

Yes, it is annoying when they change just the colour and don't think of other things like the smaller size of some women's faces and heads.

I agree with Janknitz - you may find the Swift FX a little easier to adjust for a smaller head. I found it fit me better and I have quite a small head. The fit on the FX is tricky too but there is more adjustment possible in the headgear, I think.

Hi,

I have used the Swift LT for over a year. I just started using a Swift LT For Her. They are absolutely identical as far as I can tell except for the color scheme. I actually like the light blue better than the dark blue. Being a male, I did have to check my ego a bit about using a "for her" product, but I guess I was happy to do that to save $50.

I don't like the LT

Post by Physician » Wed Aug 25, 2010 2:07 am

I tried the LT tonight and did NOT like it.

1. Those bimalar projections press excessively and needlessly on my cheeks, and

2. The straps pull upward on my cheek skin producing wrinkles under both of my eyes

This is why I liked the Swift II. That bar reduces or eliminated both of these issues.

Anyone agree ? Disagree ?
