Wow...4th night of what I guess is really called sleep! Man so many years of putting up with no sleep I wish I did this sooner.
Truly feel well rested, still no problem with full mask, rest seems more peaceful, bcp (before Cpap) I would be rip my bed to pieces, moved all over the bed, sheets would end up on the floor...now 4 nights in a row I wake in almost the same position I went to sleep in, strangely sleeping on my back, bcp was a side stomach sleeper, I know the info says I should try to sleep on my side but...
Night 1 9.8 AHI
Night 2 & 3 4.8 AHI
Last night .9 AHI
So based on all I have been reading, clearly moving in the right direction
My question of the day is... last night I slept 5.5 hours, I woke up feeling great, really great. Is the fact that I am having uninterrupted sleep on Cpap making that 5.5 hours feel like much more then bcp? I am guessing that I will start sleeping a bit longer as I get used to things but to be honest this 5 or 6 hours of sleep on Cpap feels better the 10-12 without, even throwing a nap in...is this pretty normal? Also interesting, is i am not just "feeling better" I am looking better, the dark black rings that have been under my eyes for the last 3-4 years seem to be fading away every day! (they have been an obsession for the last 2 years or so)
Sleep is a very good thing!

Congratulations! It sounds as if you are one of the very lucky ones who found the right combination of equipment, pressure and so forth the first rattle out of the box. As you have probably gathered from the varied stories on this forum, that is indeed a rare thing. I've been on CPAP for four years now and in my humble opinion, 5.5 Hrs is not likely to be sufficient in the long run, but, if it works for you then don't sweat that detail. I would recommend that you always make room in your sleep routine for a longer night if your body decides to switch gears on you. As we used to say, just go with the flow and as long as you feel so good, just consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

At first, just 4 or 5 hours was as much rest as I felt I needed.
As I got used to less and less adrenaline in my system, I was able to tolerate (and appreciate) a bit more sleep.
I'm up to around 7 or 8 now; and it feels so good--and the 'good' lasts all day.

Re: Night 4...it just keeps getting better!
During my first month or so after starting CPAP, I was sleeping around 6 hours each night, with sleep time varying from week to week, but over time I began sleeping 7-8 hours consistently.
You're doing GREAT, reallyneedsleep! You're getting such wonderful results after only a few days, with the dark circles disappearing already -- just imagine how much better you'll be feeling (and looking!) in another month or two!

Dittos for me--it took me about 6 months to stop waking up after 2 or 3 hours, and to get consistently to 7 hours of sleep per night. The body has to unlearn all the coping mechanisms, then learn how to sleep all over again. That takes a little time, though some move through this faster than others.
