i have been doing a lot of reading lately regarding sleep apnea. i read somewhere that sleep apnea can cause you to crave sweet foods especially at night. i'm just wondering if anyone knows if this is a fact and if you have experienced this? has it gotten better after starting treatment and have u lost weight?
i know for me my sweet tooth is worse at night. i'm not being treated for the sleep apnea yet so i don't know if it's true by experience.

Re: increased sweet tooth?
Hello,
Well being a fairly new Cpap user I have not had any sweet cravings...other than the normal ones I have always had. I am not overweight but I have put on a few pounds since being on cpap. Hope you get more answers to your question.
Good Luck
Bren

Re: increased sweet tooth?
Since I started CPAP, I crave a lot LESS carbs during the day.
I used to grab a snack to get me over the one o'clock (pm) hump.
Now, it's no hump--no snack.
I just don't NEED it!
I don't know about the weight yet, but some of my jeans are looser. . .

Re: increased sweet tooth?
Cpap has reduced my appetite and increased my energy. As a matter of fact, I have lost 18lb. since I started using the machine ( 8 weeks). I never crave sweets. I eat fruit to help balance out my diet but I don't carve it.
So far this cpap experience has been good for me.

Re: increased sweet tooth?
Hi - it's not that Cpap has some magical effect on your appetite, but that you no longer reach for sweets to keep you awake, so hopefully that will lessen as you go along. If it doesn't consider having a glucose tolerance test.
