More questions about the different machine types

i like your take on panic with the mask. i too worry about suffocating. thanks for posting that

Claustrophia & fear of suffocating here. I wore the OptiLite for almost 2 yrs, very minimal pillow mask that doesn't obstruct sight and isn't near mouth so it didn't set off my alarms. I still don't even like to even look at traditional nasal or FFMs...they give me the shivers. I got trapped into a hospital stay (ER wouldn't let me leave) so I had to use their equipment & oh horrors, a nasal mask that first night. The RT had me close my eyes, fit it on me, show me by feel how to release the clips if I woke up in a panic, turned on their blower & the O2 (to reduce my anxiety), had me lie back for sleep, turned out the lights as he left, and then I tried not to think about what was on my face. Get the right mask, get a machine with exhale relief, practice what Ozij posted. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I really like your take on this.. Thanks so much for posting. I wonder if I could use the same priniciple to get my nontrusting brain to trust me in other areas too?
