Cant get Encore Pro 2.3 64 bit to install in my vista PC

I must have scared everyone off with that last post. I'm not sure if that log file in the last post has anything to do with it, I was just something new I saw when I attempted the install.

Is this a hopeless cause? I'm pretty much ready to give up at this point. Its so strange that this wont install. As far as I know, my computer meets all the requirements to work.

It really does sound like SQL isn't running when it's trying to do the install. The reason you get that message in the error log, "The server was not found or was not accessible. " pretty much means that SQL isn't running when the app tries to connect to it.

So the real question may be, why doesn't SQL start? Maybe there is a clue in the fact that the services start and then stop again? Can you check the event log for Windows or the SQL log again, after trying to re-start both services again? Maybe there is some info in there as to why SQL won't start.

Also it might help to post a screen shot of your services. Maybe someone can identify if a service is missing and/or at least we can see what your control panel / services thing in Vista looks like.

Still wont install. Anyone have any advice for windows 7 I may not have applied when I was trying with vista?

To me Vista and Seven are the same. What works on one should work on the other. Many think Vista was the beta for Seven, so Seven has the latest patches.
