If You Have a ResMed S8 AutoSet Vantage I Have Questions
As you can see from my tagline, I have a S8 AutoSet Vantage. I have a couple of questions.
Question 1
Is there a way to display what it has been doing? For example, things like how often it changed the pressure, what times it made these changes, what levels it went to, etc.
Question 2
I obviously don't understand how the humidifier control works. There are six levels - I II III . . . IIIIII with half steps between levels. The unit came set to level 3 (III) which they said was a typical setting. The first night I woke with cold painful nostrils, so in a sleepy stupor I raised the level to 3.5 then again later to 4. It must have never turned on because no noticeable amount of water was used that night. The next night began with a repeat of the first night, so I cranked it up to 4.5. This seemed to work and most of the water was used. A few nights later I had hurting nostrils again and awoke the next morning to find no water used. I called ResMed to ask about this and they said this was a super smart humidifier that took into account virtually everything including your horoscope in deciding whether to heat the humidifier. The explanations weren't logical so I ended up speaking to three reps all of whom assured me it had this sophisticated algorithm for heating, but each person agreed they didn't know the details of exactly how it worked and each one's story conflicted with the other two. I pressed to speak to someone who really knew how it worked and they said that person was not there and would have to call me back. He didn't.
I then set it to 5.5 and it's been there since. Much of the water is gone each morning and the unit and heating plate are warm. But I think something's wrong with the thing and can't get anybody to admit it. Does anyone know at what settings it is supposed to begin heating?
When I first turn it on at night the Heater On/Off LED blinks on and off about once a second. I don't know how long this goes on.

The unit is the same as on the S8 escape, the blinking light indictes it is on and warming. Make sure the h/h is pushed firmly home so the 2 contacts that pick up the voltage are firmly in.
But, it does seem like a bad connection between the h/h & body of the Vantage.
The plte should feel warm at III.
good luck

Thanks for your reply.
I thought of another question.
Question 3
I there a way to preheat the humidifier so it starts delivering humidified air immediately when I don the nose gear instead of having to start using it and have it be several minutes before humid air begins?

I am having the same problem with my S8 Autoset Vantage/H3i.
I would appreciate it if you would pass along any additional info that you learn.
I'll call ResMed too. Maybe the squeeky wheels will get some grease. I'm still waiting for my DME to return my call.

I forgot to answer your question about starting the humidifier before you start air pressure. When you plug in the machine it may or may not give a mask fit report from the previous session. If you "exit" from that screen, you will see a label over the right button that says, "warmup". Just press the right button to get the humidifier to pre-heat. The manual says it turns off after 30 minutes if you have not begun using the unit.

I have just switched from using a spirit to an S8 escape and am finding that I too can't find 'warmup'.
But, this machine was released before the 3i came to market & it may be an issue with the software.
I am now interested as to if you folk solved your problems.
Cheers

Sleepye's answer works for me. I press the right-hand button and a message appears on the display saying 'warming up' or 'heating' or words like that, and it is heated when I start a short time later.dsm wrote:I have just switched from using a spirit to an S8 escape and am finding that I too can't find 'warmup'.
