But do you think all of the parts are equally likely to fail? If I were trying to make an important trip and wanted some redundancy for my car, I would be more likely to take an extra battery with me than an extra intake manifold. Sure, both are necessary, but the battery seems like the weaker link.
The answer to that question depends on where you are travelling. If you have access to a DME in your destination city, then you have opportunity to buy a replacement part if necessary. In this case, a few simple repair items such as tape is probably all that you need. For redundancy, then you might also want to carry a spare mask and hose because they are small, light and easy to carry.

On the other hand, if you're planning a trip to someplace with no hope of replacements, then a full, redundant system might be recommended.
I'm workin' on it.

If that is your plan and you're in the US, make sure you bring a copy of your prescription along.

It is always best to have your prescription when traveling. I have one just for traveling.

Even when using a national DME chain - they likely won't have access to your records and having your script can make things move a bit faster.

Also airlines could get to the point of wanting you to prove that machine is for you to not count the bag for carry-on.

Pack the script when traveling - you just don't know what could or will happen. Like damage to your machine or mask even.
