Chin strap w/goatee?

Post by davecpap » Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:45 pm

I'm looking for a better chin strap. I was given a CareFusion (Cardinal Health) TMS-13 chin strap that looks identical to the CPAP.com Universal Chinstrap:

It slips off my head sometimes, which I attribute to my goatee interfering with the chin strap cup, and my somewhat greasy hair.

The CPAP.com deluxe chinstrap interests me since there are straps to keep it from both sliding back and from sliding forward. However, does the strap across the forehead interfere with the forehead pads on most nasal masks? Most other chin straps only have straps across the back of the head, presumably to keep it from slipping forward. Do these straps on the back of the head also help somehow in keeping the chinstrap from sliding off the back of your head?

A tip to stop straps from sliding on hair. Attach a piece of Velcro (hook side) to the inside of the strap. It grabs the hair and stabilizes the strap. That said, some chinstraps are better than others. You still may want to look at getting another.
