Whoaaaaaa,, I gave my cpap a goooood cleaning this a.m. and I had been a little lazy at getting that done. I can't get over how dirty my headgear was. I put it in a bowl with some Joy dish soap and used my hands to squeeze it a few time and the water was so dirty you couldn't see the bottom of the bowl!!!!. I did this a couple times and changing the water wiht the soap in it. I took the entire mask apart and gave that a good cleaning and also the nose bridge protector that I bought from padacheek.com and I also gave the humidifyer a gooood cleaning so it should all be comfortable wearing it tongiht. The hose I let soak in the joy dish soap and vinegar for a half hour and it's hanging in the shower now to dry out so about a half hour before I go to bed I'll coil it up and put it under the electric blanket to finish drying it and then it will be nice. I guess tomorrow I'll wash clothes and throw the hose cover in the wash too. I'll have to make a second one so I can change off when one gets dirty. I still can't get over how dirty the headgear was. I pressed it between two towels to blot out eccess water. Dang I shouldn't get that lazy about keeping my equipment clean. Well I'm going to go lie down for a spell. So every one enjoy the rest of your day, Huggies, Fay
Hello: Basa2balls
I remember reading a thread on this forum, and someone suggesting NOT to hang hoses or equip.to dry in the bathroom due to the high humidity content of the room ,and how it could promote slow drying and perhaps fungus on the equipment,i though that it made sense. Now i hang my equipment in another area of the house just to be on the safe side..

Remember that mold require two things to grow: water and organic material for food. There isn't really anything in the hose for the mold to eat. So, while I wouldn't leave a moist hose lying around for days, as long as you hang the hose up to dry, you can feel pretty safe that you won't have a mold problem.
And I agree that the bathroom is not a good place to leave CPAP equipment to dry. Spin the hose to remove the bulk of the water and hang it up outside of the bathroom.

Bathrooms are full of nasty bacteria. Putting your CPAP stuff in there sort of reverses all the cleaning you just did. I'm just sayin'.

Well I was not very comfortable wearing that dang mask as it was too warm and it isn't very comfortable at all. I'm sooo looking forward to getting my pillows and hopefully that will be better for the Summer months. I took my hose last night and swung it around to get the water out, but I usually coil it up before going ot bed and put it under the electric blanket and that works well for me. So any whooo I only got a few hours of use on the machine last night as it was just plain too warm and I had some leakage. So I do get up with red eyes some mornings. The pillows should be better in that respect once I get fitted and learn to adjust them and such. I do agree the bathroom is not a realy good place to hang the hose, but for right now it's the ony place I can hang it. I could probably drape it over the book case or some thing of such. Well every one enjoy your Monday, Huggies, Fay
