I am thinking about geting a dog but wonder what the odds are a dog will bother my mask
and or tubing. Any advice on preventing this from happening?

I have Pug Dogs, they sleep with my wife and I, bad habit I know . They don't mess with my hoses or mask at all and one of them loves to chew on everything.

We have 4 dogs (med size - 60lbs) and no issues here either, If you will be getting a puppy then I suggest getting an extra hose just incase he/she decides to chew.

Cats are more prone to poking holes in tubing.
A lot will depend on how well you as the pet owner keep your pet and equipment apart.

Do they normally sleep with you? That would be the only scenario I would worry about because you won't know what they're doing overnight and your hose will be exposed (why does this sound racy ). Other times you could keep it covered with something like the warmers, or even in a basket with a latched top.

I have 2 cats and my mother has a dog. None of our pets bother our CPAP equipment even though my cats sleep with me and her dog sleeps with her.

Or a simple pair of underwear will do.

We had several dogs and ran 120 VAC through the tubing until we found a dog that lasted more than a week. A keeper.

Seriously, we got one of the new higher mattresses and put it on a frame; it's too high for our wee puppy to hop onto so my gear is safe. I would also be concerned about dander and fur and hair getting into the filters.... make sure you have a goodly supply on hand. We got a Shehpoo (Shitzu-Poodle) and it is just the right size and non-shedding; we feed it one Salmon Oil caplet every day and an egg or two weekly and it has a great coat with no shedding and no dander. All you have to do now is make sure that you vacuum well and you have the filtered air end taken care of.

Get a dog with short legs and you have the chewing thing taken care of. And we give our dog loads of chewy toys and chewy rawhide sticks to chew on. When she was a pup we sprayed all the furniture legs and stuff with bitter lemon spray for a couple of weeks. Cured the chewing habit real fast and all she chews on now is what she is supposed to.

Friends had a dog. Real story. Get any food you have out of your mouth. They had a German Sheppard that ruled the roost. Chewed whatever it wanted. He was in law enforcement supply and the dog chewed every leather holster that came home for inspection and playing with. Nothing would stop it. One day his pager went off on the coffee table and the stupid dog ate the pager. And it was one of the wee Motorolas, built like a tank. Every time the pager went off you could hear it inside the dog until a couple of days later when it was in the back yard.... they actually brought the thing in for exchange. Geez.

I have 5 cats and once in a while, one of them gets curious about my hose & mask. I just "shoo" them away and I haven't had any trouble. I think it would be a matter of training with a new pet. The suggestion of a spare hose is a good one during the training process!!

I have a mini doxie that I worried about when I first got my machine. I had him for a couple of years before getting my set-up, but he is spoiled rotten and not very well trained (as my kids tell me, he has me trained ). Anyway he has lots of chew toys, but loves fleece covers and will rip those and stuffed toys to shreds. Has never bothered my machine or tubing, although I have a fleece cover on it and worried about the tubing due to that fact.

All 4 of my cats sleep with me - aside from fighting over who gets the pillow that gets hit by the air from the vent on my mask, they do not bother it. I have woke up with 3 of the 4 on the same pillow Although they shed like crazy - I haven't had filter issues.

Jaylee. No cookies for you! (Or is that supposed to be 'no soup for you'). I miss Seinfeld. You do, however, get the Toronto Literacy Prize for braveness is reading and digesting quality posts and literature (literature comes later). More posts to follow so you can continue to practice

By the way, do they make CPAP FOR pets? Our dog is snoring these days.

I have Pug Dogs, and they all snore. My dogs sleep on the bed with us because when I would leave on a hunting trip my wife would have the dogs sleep with her so she could fall asleep to there snoring since I wasn't there.

I have a dog and cat. The cat has punctured my hose more then once. Luckily the chew everything puppy has finally grown up to stop chewing but that was no problem as it could climb the ladder to my loft bed.
