Oh man, there is an intense amount of misinformation in this thread.

1) Yes, the S8 data card is based on smart card technology, but it is a proprietary SHAPE - its much smaller than a normal smart card - it ONLY fits into the official Resmed S8 smart card reader**

2) Its been rumored that cpapaustralia.com.au will no longer ship the readers to the US, but cpapshop.com.au WILL ship to the US. Another user reported success in ordering one from cpapshop.com.au as recently as last week.

So check out on eBay for the official ResMed S8 card reader, check out cpapauction.com - if those don't pan out, go to cpapshop.com.au

** ResScan only recognizes the ACR38 card reader, and a generic version of the reader is no longer available. Even when it was, you had to make a cardboard shim/tray to fit the smaller card into the generic reader so the contacts on the card line up with the contacts inside the generic reader.
