Why I asked

Post by Physician » Fri Jul 09, 2010 12:42 am

I ask because earlier I posted this website: http://www.cpaptalk.com (because I forgot to type .net) and asked if anyone has used this site which has less expensive CPAP units.

My post was deleted.

Is that website forbidden to be listed here ?

Outside of porn sites I don't know of any URLs not allowed to be posted here. Its pretty much a free for all here unless we get into a real free-for-all. Which surprisingly doesn't happen too often.

It may have been marked as spam. Use the word "dot" to indicate a web site.

Hi Physician

Anybody with a spam button could have deleted your post.

Many Forum Members are very grateful to Cpap.com, and consequently tend to be protective of them. A link to a direct competitor may not have been appreciated by one of them, and they assessed it as spam, and deleted it accordingly. It's deletion may have had nothing to do with Forum Admin.

This is just surmise on my part, but some of my surmises have been right
And some have been wrong

There is also the matter of respect. Would you allow ads for your competitors to be displayed in your workplace?

cheers

Ach, Mars. It is done here frequently. But as you say, one of the members may have taken what they thought was a protective step and deleted it. cpap.com will match any advertised price which is one of the reasons I assume that they don't object to or stop us from posting links to other online providers.

Am I the ONLY one who doesn't understand? Posting a link to cpaptalk.com or .net either way why would anyone delete it?

but cpaptalk.com surely doesn't sell equipment. I can't get anything to come up on cpaptalk.net

Hi GumbyCT

If you are using Firefox it will not take you to the cpaptalk.net site unless you give it permission to do so. I had to click the "allow" button on the top right hand side. Then you get to the site YouNeedSleep.com

Gumby - Cpaptalk.com IS sponsored by Cpap.com and so some people may find it a bit blatant to advertise other dealers by name, as opposed to incidentally referring to them in other contexts, or to say that so-and-so dealer carries something or other that Cpap.com doesn't but is wanted by a poster.

I think I understand now.

The URL cpaptalk.net displays youneedsleep.com, a commercial site.

And while posting other commercial CPAP sites is allowed, someone probably felt that the deception in the name cpaptalk.net warranted use of the spam button.

And personally, I agree with that.

I don't see where they have a user forum.......

That's one of the reasons I support https://www.cpap.com
