Dear Friends,
My doctor just prescribed Lyrica, but when I looked at possible side affects, I got scared. If you are taking Lyrica, could you please share with me how you felt when you first started taking it, if you had any side affects, and if it has helped your pain?
Thanks so much.
Your friend,

Re: OT: Anyone taking Lyrica?
My wife was taking Lyrica for a while to help with her migraines. It did help with the migraines mostly.
The reason she stopped is that it made her feel drowsy/fuzzy-headed most of the time and also tended to intensify her emotions (particularly the negative ones). She had to taper off of it in order to quit it (which was a bit of a PITA as the pills are in powdered capsules) but has had no long-term effects from it since she stopped.
One thing she liked about it (other than the pain relief) was that she slept very soundly when using it. This was no small thing to her as she tends towards insomnia most of the time, but even still she decided to bag it.

I have very painful fibromyalgia- and with the very FIRST pill, I felt much relief- I do not take it every day- more often in the winter when the fibro is most fierce- but I have not had any ill effects- this has been for a couple of years now. Good luck, if you decide to take it.

Lyrica is **the worst** drug I have ever taken!
It does help with neuropathic pain. It also makes me dizzy, blurs my vision, makes me anxious, makes me babble and slur my words, and caused weight gain. A total of 30 pounds - about 15 pounds in a month each of two times that I went back on it.
I hate it, hate it, hate it!

Dear Friends,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I took my first Lyrica today and felt anxious, also sluggish, like a ball of gel. I could not concentrate well at work and felt very tired, as though I had been up for several nights. I also felt as though it was slowing down my breathing....very very slow - everything very, very slow. It did nothing for my left knee pain. I felt as though it really disagreed with me. I will continue to try the lydocane patch and go back to percaset as needed, as I do very well with percoset on small doses and have no side affects or interactions with my other meds on this. I will see the pain mgt dr. again in 2 weeks and tell him that Lyrica and I are not friends.
Regards to all,
Jersey Girl
