Resmed Escape S8 w/humidifier ... in Europe?

Post by elmunc » Sun Jun 27, 2010 4:19 pm

Hi all,
I've got a week's travel in Europe coming up. Can I just stick a basic European adapter plug onto the plug of my Escape S8 (and its humidifier) and plug the thing into a European wall socket? The Resmed site says that the Escape S8 is safe to use overseas, but it says something about how you need the right power cord.
Thanks for any advice...

most modern CPAPs will accept and automatically adjust to any AC voltage between about 112 to 250.
look at yours and see whats written on it, you need an adaptor plug to suit, these can be bought easily before you leave
as a point of interest, most light gloves on bedside lamps have their voltage written on them, it varies as you travel in europe

make sure your name and home address is scratched or inscribed on your CPAP and keep a record of the serial number, your CPAP is less likely to get lost carried in your hand luggage, dont forget the power cord
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

Just need the adaptor and be sure to turn the humidifier off.

Yes, you can. I have done just that on numerous occasions.

The US power cord that comes with the S8 from Resmed is 220/240V rated, but if you use another power cord or US extension cord, make sure it is 220/240V rated.

Cheers,

Bill
