Welcome, wvbike_99! We're glad that you found us so early in your therapy! Your PR System One Auto A-Flex is a very good, fully data capable machine. There are always adjustments that need to be made with CPAP (mainly with masks), but I can tell that you're going to do fine. You have a wonderful attitude.

This is a great place to find information and support. Much can be learned through the "CPAP Wiki" (top of the screen) and by searching past threads. Feel free to ask questions too. Best wishes to you!

Hi '99! Thank you so much for sharing your first night's experience. I'm a newbie too and hope to be in that boat within the next few weeks.
All the best, keep us posted!

Progress Report, 2 nights down, last night went pretty good I guess, I was asleep. Woke up at 6 this morning like yesterday morning and had a hard time getting mask to quit leaking. I think my head shrinks overnight LOL because I really have a time getting it to seal at 6 am. I don't think it is leaking during the night , at least I hope not. I have a little throat irratation this morning hope that will pass. Played with the machine and it said I had 10.3 AHI what ever that means but is that info any good since my machine only gives a 7 day average and I only have 2 nights.
All in all I am doing better that I expected with the machine. Can't say I feel much better this morning but I did feel a little better yesterday morning. I had the mask on about 8 hrs last night,I guess I will have to make this my new Hobby for a while. Thanks for all the kind encouragement.

Great achievement on keeping the mask on 8hrs! The magic number for AHI is <5 but you should be getting leaks under control first. Is your room air cool enough? Is it possible that your skin is getting oily towards morning and losing the seal? Perhaps quickly wiping down your face and the cushion would help.

If you have the APAP, they may have set you up with a range of pressure (for example: 5-15). This can cause problems with the mask seal when the machine ramps up from a lower pressure to a higher pressure. You may need to have your range adjusted so that it's more narrow (for example 10-13) which will help you keep your seal and give you better treatment.

Mouth leaks can also be an issue, you said you are a mouth breather, so you need to think about either going for a full-face mask, or looking at a chin-strap to help keep your mouth closed. This also can cause your machine to ramp-up to higher pressure (it's trying to compensate for the leak).

As to your AHI numbers, the golden rule is that they should always be below 5.

Wishing you good luck.
