Years ago at the beginning of peri menopause I had night sweats. I would wake up and stay awake until I felt cooled hen back to sleep. All of it took about 5 minutes of my night. That seemed to stop on its own and long before I ever got my cpap. I have never had a hot fash. Even if I did have one now how would I know if it were me or the weather? After all I do live in Florida

I had a complete hysterectomy in 2000. The hot flashes and night sweats were so awful. It felt like stepping off of a ladder into a pool of steaming water. I thought I would go insane with them. The doctors first put me on Prozac and Prempro. 6 months later I was still having problems and went to a compounding pharmacy and got the hormones there that I used for a year or so. The hot flashes continued. I tried the yam creams, primrose, black cohosh, etc. The list goes on and on. The best thing for me has been installing a room air conditioner in my room that is set on 60 degrees and fan that sits right beside my bed that is on high at all times. The central air just didn't do enough to keep it cool in my room. In the winter I put a fan in my window and LOVE it when it gets so cold! I did not care if my husband had to wear thermals year round to sleep because I slept perfectly finally. He grumbled a bit at first but is resigned to the fact that it helped and still does. I think that they are finally coming to an end now though. I don't know if the CPAP helped or if they have just declined in frequency. BUT, if I get upset then they return with a vengeance!! I am called the tasmanian devil by friends and family.

a teaspoon of gin before I went to bed worked for me. An older woman told me to try this and it worked. I don't drink. When the flashes ended there was still gin left in the bottle.

I probably had one of the easiest times going through menopause in the history of the world. The gin did seen to make a difference. It was such a tiny amount but it seemed to work good for me.

Oh I forgot, you can get a PORTABLE air conditioner which will freeze your room like a polar bear lair.
I got one for the summer, can wheel it room to room..
If you get one, make sure you get one which does not have a drip pan, and one with the MOST btu's of power..

I love ours.. you just roll it near a window, open it, and stick in the vent panel, close the window, and vuella, you have an ice cave!

Blackspinner, at TAU natural food store they told me about a natural hormones cream. I don't know if this is made from yam, maybe not but the lady told that is a marvel. I don't know how good it is I'm using the Primrose oil plus the rice bran oil. If I take it as I'm supposed to it works. If I forget I can have one hot flash enough to scrap my nice sleep I'm in peri-menopause hope that ill not be worst when menopause will arrive.

When it started I had 4 to 5 at night and each time I get stressed or loosing my temper
