I think you mean you went from CPAP to BPAP, which is why you are having a difficult time???

If that's the case... I went from using CPAP to BPAP about two months ago. I had a really hard time with it for awhile and was very surprised because BPAP is supposed to be easier -- it wasn't for me. It took awhile but all is fine now.

Please register... you will get many more replies that way.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I had inital anxiety with the mask itself and started breathing exagerated after starting the machine do to the pressure. I would also take my mask off every night. The pressure on cpap was moved up because they thought this would help with me not removing my mask at night. I was told the reason I removed mask was because the pressure wasn't high enough. However after the pressure was increased nothing was helping. I was then asked to start taking a sleeping pill ambien. The nights I took the pill I didn't remember anything not taking my mask off or hearring my girlfriend get up to take the dog out which before the pill i would. Not being able to remember what happen during the night made me anxious on top of the anxiety I already had simply from the machine. After the pressure and the sleeping pill both didn't help with me removing the mask they gave me the bipap. I am presently on night 3 with the machine but I am still removing the mask. I have heard others say that this could be because of the mask itself but wouldn't they have mentioned that? Or mayb this is just one of those things trial and error. I just am so frustrated with myself I feel the process is taking too long and feel like giving up. My sleep apneas prior to the machine were110 every hours. I appreciate any advice.

Dnap...Please register here at the forum and add your equipment to your profile. It will help us help you better.
Also please start a new thread with your specific problems. This thread is old and a lot of people will pass it by because we don't always read the old threads or follow them very closely.

Taking the mask off during the night....is very common and it doesn't mean that your pressure wasn't high enough. It means that your brain hasn't decided that it is okay for this "stuff" to be on our face and it wants the mask off. We have all done it at some time or another. I know I have but fortunately I didn't do it very often so it wasn't really a problem.

Some people have had to resort to taping their mask onto their face so that when they remove it in their sleep the discomfort of tape pulling the skin wakes them up so they leave the mask alone. Others have used mittens on their hands to make it more difficult to remove the mask.
This happens to a lot of people and not just people on a BiPap. A forum search for this problem will show you that you have a lot of company with this issue.

With time the brain comes to trust this "stuff" on our face and doesn't treat it like an alien from outer space. Until that time comes...we do what we can to limit the removal of the mask.

Which BiPap machine do you have? What pressure is it set at? What mask are you using?
