PR System One BiPAP AVAPS: Severely Disappointed

Post by juanbkm » Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:20 am

I just bought a PR System One BiPAP AVAPS to replace my broken Synchrony. I got that over the older model because i thought that since it's the latest model it would be better. Alas it wasn't. After a month of being with me I still can't get the right settings to it.

Finally my RT came over and he brought a pulse oximeter and a manometer. The pressure was accurate. However when I used it with the same settings as my synchrony my O2 stat dropped below 96. The only way I could get the stats up was to crank up the pressure to 17 vs. 15 on my synchrony.

I think it's the way it delivers air. It takes slower to reach the pressure and maintain it as opposed to the synchrony. I turned the rise time off even just to get a quicker cycle from IPAP to EPAP.

I really really thought that this was gonna be a better machine. Now I'm trying to look for synchrony's to buy. since this is the machine i'm happiest with. The thing I'm most sad about is that I spent so much on this and I'm probably stuck with a machine I'm finding difficult to use.
