It would be great if we could get a service manual for one of the S9's or even just a labelled schematic diagram. That would give us a pretty good clue as to what goes on with that jack. And maybe even what that jack is - generally, they are not proprietary and if we can find the manufacturer and part no. they are probably a buck or two. The three volt line bothers me a bit... and I would tend to agree that it is probably some sort of a sensing line but to what end? For what purpose? Does that jack connect to anything except when there is DC powering the unit up? If that's the case then the 3V line must be a voltage being used either in the electronics somewhere (there are many IC manufacturers using 3V to power up their chips) or extended to power up sensors or heaters in the climate control tubing. Puzzling. Need a schematic. Labelled. And a service manual. I know that once upon a time I was the only Rockwell Collins dealer in Canada and as such had the only service manual for their current product line in existence in the country; and there were only a dozen or so in all of North America. One would think that every servicing dealer of their product must have one at least. Suggestions?
And to reiterate.... if you are camping, stay clear of the inverter solution that puts 120VAC all around you. A wee bit of rain or wet grass and you have a great chance of electrocuting yourself. Stick with 12 VDC for safety.

Fall colours. One of God's gifts. Life is fragile and short, savour every moment no matter what your problems may be. These stunning fall colours from my first outing after surviving a month on life support due to H1N1.
