Got up for an early morning pit-stop. Upon returning to bed, I picked up my Swift FX™ Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear off the floor. It looked strangely mis-shapen. Closer inspection revealed the gel-type strap that goes across the top of the head was not just broken...it was GONE!
My 18 month cocker spaniel had that guilty look on her face and ran for the doggy door in the kitchen! That type of behavior usually means: "Oooops....Mama's not gonna like what I just did!" and she makes herself scarce till the heat dies down and the coast is clear!
While I dont really enjoy replacing things the dog has broken/eaten etc...my concern is mostly for her health.
Are those gel straps harmful for dogs to eat....should I take her to the vet or just wait and watch to make sure the strap is..."recycled" in a few days? Do they have a special taste that doggies just love to eat, or was I just lucky only only the strap is gone and the mask is still usable.
Heading over to the cpap.com store to see if I need an RX to order "spare parts" for my mask.
My dog ATE my mask!

Re: My dog ATE my mask!
Not a direct apples-to-apples comparison but back in the days when phones had the twisty wire that connected the handset to the base unit my mom's dog ate about a two and a half inch piece of it. It ended up blocking up her intestine and she needed surgery to remove it. I'd call your vet and see what they recommend.

You also must write on the chalk board 50 times "I will not let my dog eat my mask"

Re: My dog ATE my mask!
Or, how about the time my (now) ex and I brought our two Samoyeds to a new kennel for the first time, on our way to vacation, and about an hour later BOTH of them threw up bits and pieces of plastic (hard & soft) toys our cats had left around over a whole year! We knew it had been inside for that long by the nature of what had been missing and then come up. Only the stress of kenneling got it all out! Of course if we had realized the extent of things we never would have just let it go, but the dogs were outdoors most of the time except for overnight and (believe it or not) daily monitored visits, i.e. litter boxes covered, cat dishes and wastebaskets put away, etc.etc. - but we'd obviously missed the little stuff!
