I have both a full face mask and a nasal pillow mask. I am often reading posts about the various differences people have with them. It seems the nasal pillows often make my nostrils sore after awhile. The mask can be a bit more comfortable at times though harder to fall sleep with. Catch 22. I don't seem to have any problems with leakage on either, just wanting to get used to something hugging my face all night (no, it's not ladies ). Still nly getting about 4.5 hours of sleep each night.
I'm just curious what the preference is among people here. Is one better than the other for therapy?
Full face mask vs. nasal pillows
Re: Full face mask vs. nasal pillows
I think the choice is clear depending on whether you are a mouth breather or not. If not the less mask touching your face the better, the choice is personal.
Re: Full face mask vs. nasal pillows
When I first started with nasal pillows, my nostrils got sore too. I used a little chapstick on them for a couple of nights until I got more used to it. My nose also felt sore and not at the skin level. I loosened the mask a little, and it went away. It took me a little over a week to gradually "tune" my mask in.

Re: Full face mask vs. nasal pillows
I switch back and forth between nasal pillows and a full face mask. If my nostrils are sore I take a night off from the pillows and use my FFM. I do get better AHI readins using both the nasal pillows along with a chinstrap to keep my mouth closed. I am a big time mouth breather so I cannot use the pillows w/o a chin strap. Best of luck to you!
