CPAP shut itself off while I was asleep!

Post by jstanton » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:51 pm

Last night I was wearing my CPAP and at about 5am I woke up and went to take my mask off because I heard my daughter crying and realized that it wasn't even running. My CPAP works very well when it comes to responding to my breath and turning itself on immediately so that makes me wonder if I was breathing that shallow or not breathing at all. I know the power didn't go out. Any one else had this happen? I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it.

If your machine is more than a couple years old, you may need a new one.

A power outage? Depending on the machine and it's settings (an auto-on auto-off feature, for example) it might have reset itself after a prolonged power outage. Just a thought.

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

What machine? (specific make/model)
How long have you had it?
If it has a setting for "auto off", it can turn itself off due to a large leak.

Need more information......

A couple of months ago, my Remstar Pro2 quit working on me. I was using it in my RV on 12vdc. I tried hooking it to 110v A/C power and it wouldn't work. I had sent it in one time for repairs. It was almost 4 years old at the time but I had not used it in about 18 months. I had a Bipap machine I was using. I still use that Bipap as a back up machine. I have one I use in the RV and one I use at home.
