I bought a digital video camera made by Insignia. Added memory to get about 7 hours of continuous video. Added a small tripod to place on bedstand. Total = $125 at Best buy. Reply video directly back camera LCD, TV screen, or computer (better have big hard drive).
It has night vison capability. Not great but good enough to see if you sleep on back or not. Most boring video I have ever watched in my life (especially one involving the bed room ). Wish it had faster, fast forward capability. Sleeping on my back is deadly for me too.

Just tried the program with my new $5 webcam - works perfect! I can automatically capture pics every five minutes and save them to disk with the time the picture was taken as the filename. Thanks Uncle Bob!!!Uncle_Bob wrote:I downloaded yawcam webcame software (free) and got a $5 webcam with LED lights from Amazon.com
You can set it up to take a picture every few seconds or you can set it to motion sensing mode so it will take a picture every time you move.
The file timestamps can be used to match up with data from your machine.
Re: Cheapest Way to Video Record Yourself Sleeping
I’ve been recording myself sleeping using a cheap PC USB 6 IR Led 10M pixel web cam with sound purchased on Ebay for about $10. I connect this to an old laptop with it’s sleep functions turned off and it easily records a night sleep.
The expensive part was the camera capture monitor software that cost $30.
The system works well. I tie it in with my recorded SPO2 information to see how I’m sleeping and how much I snore. I’ll also use it to record how I’m sleeping with a CPAP system that I expect to be prescribed later this week. I’m not looking forward to that.
I find the sound very useful. The IR Led’s are invisible. You must make sure the recording software has a time stamp. A full nights recording is less than 1 Gb.

A DropCam will work. Easy to install. Uses InfraRed for night recording. It will also record sound. But it isn't cheap. Runs about $125. Very easy to set up. I use it as a security camera in my house, but I did use it one night for the same reason mentioned here--to try to figure out what position I was in when the events were occurring.
