A Few Questions for Resmed Liberty Hybrid Mask Users...

Post by DannyPh » Sun Jun 06, 2010 9:59 am

I just recieved my Resmed Liberty Hybrid Mask and used it last night for the First Time with Pretty Good Results. By that I mean there were No Leak Issues and in General the Mask was Pretty Comfortable overall Once I got the Straps adjusted Properly But I noticed that the pillows caused the Nares to Hurt and they were sore this Morning. Is it Possible to Put the Nasal Pillows in Backwards ? Also, I did not wash the Mask before using and I wonder if there might be some Protective film on them to cause the Nares to get sore. I possibly might have had the Straps too Tight---pushing the Pillows too far into the Nares. I know that I probablly need to do some more tweaking tonight. The main Issue I am concerned with is the Sore Nares. I used the Mask for 10 Hrs last night so I Guess I was Successful with that. Any Tips or suggestions from Liberty Hybrid Mask users will be greatly Appreciated > Thank You

Everything you wrote is possible.
My first ever meeting with nasal pillows also created soreness after 2 nights - I had to take break from them (2-3 nights, on the RT's recommendation) to let my tissues heal.
After that break, I used nasal pillows for almost 5 years.

I'm a FORMER Lib user... (now Hybrid)...

Use a little nipple grease on the pillows and you can loosen the upper straps a surprising amount and still maintain the seal.

That being said, if you are new to nasal pillows, your nares may be sore for the first few days. If that's the problem, it will take care of itself.

Hello:Danny

I also had a similar problem,As ( Link C) stated a little bit of nipple greased also known as (Lansinoh) used by Breastfeeding mother's it is found at your local pharmacy is 100% lanolin and it does not affect the silicone material the pillows are made of,just apply a small amount in the nares of your nose and use your mask as usual it help's soothed the soreness and i also believed that it help the seal of the pillows... it has work wonder's for me

Regards : Phil
