Humor: My primary care physician's spouse is getting CPAP

Post by SleepyTiger » Fri Jun 04, 2010 5:56 pm

So,

At my check up today I handed over various S9-based reports to my PCP. They're not a sleep expert but are otherwise awesome and supportive.

So I did a quick education of what the reports showed. And then they related that their spouse is going on CPAP in a couple of weeks...

I think I'll send them a quick pointer to this place.

Don't just think about it, SleepyTiger, DO IT!!! You will not only possibly help out your PCP's spouse but also any of your PCP's patients who he/she suspects may have OSA!

My sleep doctor specialist is also on CPAP himself. I wonder if he's heard of this forum. I have a followup appointment at the end of the month. I think I'll ask him.

My primary has mentioned in the past that his wife is on PAP...but it doesn't seem to help him in understanding what I'm going through....

A doctor friend of my parents is on CPAP, and told them that losing weight cures sleep apnea...but he's still on it because he's too lazy to lose the weight....

Another doctor who is making overly broad generalizations. Although losing weight is good for your overall health, it does NOT CURE SLEEP APNEA. It may allow you to decrease your pressure, but there's no guarantee.

I'm as skinny as a rail, and have had sleep apnea for most of my adult life.
