I am driving through there tomorrow on the way to San Antonio... looking for some advice/comments
from someone familiar with the city.
I am coming in from the north on I-35 from Bethany, MO.
My plan was to take 435 around the city and hook back up with I-35.

Re: OT: Kansas City
I just pmed my son-in-law since he was through that way the first of the week. I asked about road construction as that is the major issue around KC it seems (and commuter traffic before and after work hours).

Son in law said to take 210 east and it will dump you on to 435 and that is your best bet to miss KC. Then you can hit 1-35 south of KC (my speculation).
Have a good trip and hope you enjoy your trip through Missouri!!

Paul, I've never been to Kansas City, so I can't help with that. I just wanted to wish you a safe and pleasant journey on your way to San Antonio!

Detour south and take I 44 ( I think that's it ) and get off at Lebanon, Mo and go to a place called Bennett Springs.
It's a state park. Worth the detour, especially if you like trout fishing.
Been gone from K.C. since 95 when we came out to Phoenix for the winter. Went back and put the house on the market and gave away my lawn mower and snow shovel and I don't miss any of them
If you get lost and find yourself on the east side of KC in Blue Springs, MO. stick your hand out the window and give my brother the finger for me
Seriously though you can take that I - 44 and go south and it would be much faster to go down through Oklahoma City, etc. etc.
If you're coming down from Canada you would need to change your route a bit to pick up I-44 at St. Louis and that cuts crosswise across Missouri.
