Respironics smart card

Post by carojae » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:21 am

I have a respironics M series Bipap machine and recently had to purchase a smart card and module for it this past week.

Installation was easy, there were 4 simple steps and it is installed. The 4th step says that when I power up the machine, I should see a smartcard symbol which is my confirmation that the machine is working and now ready to start recording my usage activity.

My problem is, there is no smartcard symbol showing, only this: "setup +". Should I still be confident that the smartcard is doing its' thing? I tried calling respironics but they won't answer my call.

What do you think?

Jim

I would think if the Smart Card symbol is not there it is not detecting the card and would not record data. The Setup+ is the home screen and when you insert the card it should show a little card symbol that should appear in the upper right corner of the Setup+ screen. All my machines came with the card module installed so I don't know what to tell you if it does not detect the card. I don't see anything in the manual about having to set up the card after installation. You might try removing the module and reinstalling it in case it did not make good connection.

with the bipap plus and a card module you have NOTHING - NOTHING - NOTHING

check this page - http://encore.respironics.com/type.aspx

look at those asterisks

DS600*, DS600H*

*These models only offer phone-in compliance data

the card module with the bipap plus is a total waste - akcpapguy pointed this out a year or so ago - I recall the lesson well - it is in this thread -
