I'm a newbie, but I've had the OSA diagnosis for 1.5 years now. I have struggled through this with about 4 or 5 different masks, and had a nasal septum reconstruction. My last sleep study got screwed up (was supposed to be a split study, but they ended up doing a regular old diagnostic study) and my index was 31. I'm a little overweight (6'0", 195#),but not that much and my neck size is not all that large (16.5").
When I wear the CPAP it works great, but cannot seem to get through more than a few hours per night. I throw it off, much like many of you. No matter how much self talk I do I still cannot seem to talk myself into leaving the mask on.
My latest escapade is to see if the jaw-advancing device would work. I went to a dentist who deals in this sort of thing and he made me the TAP3 device. If you haven't heard of it, you can find more info about it here: http://www.dentalartslab.com/tap-3-thor ... positioner
Unfortunately, after wearing it for about 2 weeks (without the CPAP) I don't feel any more rested. Wondering if anybody out there has tried using TAP3 AND CPAP with success. Of course I realize that if I can't keep the CPAP on for more than a few hours it is not going to help!
