help with AHI....Please

Post by Brenpbb11150 » Thu May 27, 2010 9:35 pm

Hello,
I have been following my AHI's for the past week and the data on my machine is telling me that for a 7 day period they are 3.4...is that an ok reading and if not how can I get them lower. My mask leaks are showing for a 7 day period 29.9.
thanks
Bren

In the sleep field, we consider anything less than 5 normal. However, if you are still feeling tired or the symptoms you had previously still exist, you may need a pressure change. This is the part where you rely on how you "feel". Good Luck!

I second that. Many people on here never get there numbers any better then an AHI of 3 or 4. For me I'm miserable if my ever goes above 1. So the most important thing to ask is "how do you feel?"

As for your leak rate, I don't have the same cpap so I don't know what your numbers mean. Someone else will be along to help with that.

Taking the Epworth Sleepiness Scale is a good determining tool for contacting the Doctor. In other words 'How do you feel'?

I don't put my eggs all in one basket with the AHI from the data-enabled machine. I've had great compliance and totally felt awful.... Seeing the Doctor took care of the problem

Good luck,

SG

Not familiar with your particular unit. For Resmed S8, Ai is more important figure as many of the Hi are artifacts. Having total ahi below 5 is good though so no worries.

You could however try to get your leak reduced. Again depends on unit and type of mask - but .29 does appears 'slightly' on the high side.
