which fullface mask covers under chin?

Post by newname » Thu May 27, 2010 3:55 am

I need a mask that cups under my chin not one that sits on my chin. Which ones do this? I think I've heard of one that does this, but
DME doesn't think so.

The Fisher& Paykel 431, 432 and Forma all fit under the chin. The Hybrid does as well. Those are the ones I know of and there may be others.

I use the F&P 431 and have become very loyal to it. One of the reasons I like IS that it goes under the chin rather than resting below my lip. It's more comfortable for me.

Hi All

If I look at Hawthorne's and Madalot's posts on the same screen, I can't help noticing that Hawthorne's cats are eyeing up Madalot's cats, and Madalot's cats are eyeing up my post, wondering what the hell I am on about.

Don't worry - it can happen to the best of us

And I support what has been said about F & P masks. They are excellent.

cheers

I have been using the Forma which tucks under the chin now for several months and it works well for me. I tried the Quattro but it was leaving the bridge of my nose red so the DME suggested I try the Forma, the Quattro problem could have been a sizing issue however. The seals are holding up well as I am still on the first set now over 4 months later. Its not as adjustable at the forehead as the Quattro and that could be an issue for some.

Hi Mars, I notice you're listing the Quattro as your mask, just curious about what differences you find with the Q vs F&P? I've met a few people who use the FP431 and I've been interested. Mike uses the UMFF.

I use the F&P 431. I got it as a backup in case of congestion -- and after having it (unused) a couple of months I decided to try it out just in case. I'm still using it after 7 or 8 months. I switched from a nasal mask. With it I had to use a chin strap and tape my mouth. The 431 cups under my chin holding my mouth closed -- so I don't have to use a chin strap or tape either. BTW -- it's easier getting ready for bed -- just wipe the mask, then my face, put it one and hit the switch!

Hi Dori

When I wrote the post I said to myself - I bet somebody picks up that my mask is Quattro. I could have guessed it would be yourself, Dori, as I know that not much gets past you.

There are two answers to your question.

The first one is I have a beard, and as it grows, the Quattro becomes more workable than the F & P 432.

The second answer, which you must keep to yourself, is that my Quattro sometimes needs cleaning, and my inner psyche is not in a cleaning mode, so then I put on a clean F & P 432 or Forma.

Always nice to hear from you, Dori

cheers

Mars

PS I see that Madalot's cats have grown tired of looking at my previous post, and are going to sleep.

Look into getting a Hans Rudolph https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hans-r ... -mask.html

It's the most comfortable mask I've tried. Your DME probably doesn't carry it, but should be able to order it for you like mine did. Just make sure you can exchange it if it doesn't fit you,(they run very large)

I just saw these posts about the cats! I keep changing my avatars, sometimes using pictures of my cats or some I've pulled off the internet. The last two (including this one) are of my cats. My cats are frequently sleepy.

Komodo,
Does the Hans Rudolph hurt the top of your nose? I know many people, myself included can't use the Full Life mask because it hurts the top of the nose becasue it rests there because it doesn't have the forehead piece.

Not for me.
There are NO hard parts that come in contact with your nose at all. Also, it doesn't really "rest" on your nose like most masks do. It's hard for me to describe, but it's kinda held in place/rests on your cheeks, with no pressure to your nose or jaw. You can adjust the headgear to have it rest where you want I guess, but that's where mine sits.
