Look under CPAP Definitions in the Header of this Forum under APAP...

AutoPAP - also known as "auto-titrating CPAP", "auto-adjusting CPAP", or "self-adjusting CPAP."

CPAP is set for one continuous pressure. An AutoPAP can be set to deliver a range of low/high pressures, customizable within 4 - 20 cm H2O.

An AutoPAP differs from a CPAP in that an AutoPAP uses algorithms to sense subtle changes in the user's breathing and deliver only the amount of pressure necessary to keep the airway open.

An AutoPAP automatically varies the pressure to prevent and/or correct sleep disordered breathing events - apneas, hypopneas, air flow restrictions, and snores.

Computer software is available for AutoPAP machines, which will allow a user or clinician to download the recorded data into a PC. This data can be put in report form to track treatment results.

Your machine is a "Plus" model, if you have chosen the right one.

The machine you have will give you cpap therapy at a prescribed single pressure. That should show on the LCD screen of your machine while it is running.

An auto is a cpap machine but it can be set at a minimum and a maximum pressure (usually a couple of cm above and below your precribed pressure).

With an "Auto" or a "Pro", in your particular machine (the PR System One) you can purchase software (Encore Viewer 2) and then can see, on your computer, what happened during the night while you slept - you will see events (apneas, hypopneas, leak rate, AHI, etc).

With the "Plus" in the PR System One machines, you will only get how long and and how often you used your machine so buying software for a "Plus" is a waste of money.

"Autoset" is the name of an auto machine made by Resmed, a different manufacturer than the manufacturer of your machine (Philips Respironics). In the Remsed machines, an "auto set" will give you that detailed data if you buy the specific software for that machine (Rescan).
